Brief introduction to subject:
The Health T Level course provides learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to be successful in this vital sector. Each learner can expect to gain an understanding of key topics such as person-centred care, health and well-being, infection prevention and control and clinical practice.
In the second year of the course, learners will focus on a specific sector within the industry as they choose one Occupational Specialism in Supporting Healthcare:
- Supporting the Adult Nursing Team
- Supporting the Therapy Team
- Supporting the Midwifery Team
The learner's core knowledge will be assessed through an examination and a practical, employer-set project. Maths, English and general digital skills will be integrated into the qualification in contexts relevant to the health sector.
Each learner will also be expected to complete at least 45 days working in the health sector. This will give them valuable experience in the workplace whilst giving employers the chance to see emerging talent in the health industry.
Course Requirements
A minimum of Grade 4 in English Language and Maths and a 4, 4 in Science.

An internal entry assessment to support the above entry requirements.

Successful completion of a DBS.

Full medical history & health assessment.

Evidence of childhood vaccinations to include MMR, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B & Tetanus.

Evidence of vaccination status following new government guidance.

Positive reference from college/school tutors.

A commitment to undertaking a 315 hour / 45 day industry placement following a successful interview with an employer.
Year 1 is made up of three key parts:
Core: Knowledge and understanding of contexts, concepts and theories of the health industry:
- Working within the health and science sector
- The Healthcare Science sector
- Health, Safety and Environmental regulations in the health and science sector
- Health and Safety regulations applicable in the Healthcare sector
- Managing information and data within the Health and Science sector
- Managing personal information
- Good Scientific and Clinical Practice
- Providing Person Centred Care
- Health and well-being
- Infection prevention and control in health specific settings
- English, Maths and digital skills needed in the health sector
- Core Science concepts including Biology, Chemistry and Physics
- Further Science concepts
Employer Set Project: A project set by health specialists that requires learners to apply their knowledge to a real-life problem in the industry.
Industry Placement: Towards the end of the year, learners will get the opportunity to put the knowledge and skills they have learned in to action as they begin their industry placement. They will work with an external health provider to apply their knowledge and develop their technical skills in a real-life health setting.
Year 2 is dependent on the learner's choice of Occupational Specialism:
All pathways
- Assist with the individual's overall care and needs to ensure comfort and well-being
- Assist registered health professionals with clinical or therapeutic tasks and interventions
- Undertake a range of physiological measures
Supporting the Adult Nursing Team
- Assist the adult nursing team with clinical tasks
- Support individuals to meet activities of daily living
- Assist with skin integrity assessments and with the care and treatment of skin conditions
Continuation of your Industry Placement: learners will develop their technical skills and apply their knowledge in a workplace environment with an external health provider.
When students complete a T Level study programme, they are able to choose between moving into a skilled occupation or further study, such as higher or degree apprenticeship, higher level technical study and university.
