Brief introduction:

The qualification is aimed at learners who want to progress to employment in the esports industry, possibly via an apprenticeship, or who may aspire to enter higher education. The qualification is endorsed by the British Esports Association as being suitable for learners who want to work in the industry. This means that it will be recognised by employers and will support entry into the industry in a range of roles. When combined with other Level 3 qualifications, this qualification also offers learners the opportunity to progress to a broad range of higher education programmes, including bachelor’s degrees.

Requirements

A minimum of Grade 4 in English Language or Maths.

Assessment

Unit 1 - Introduction to Esports
Learners will develop an understanding of the esports and traditional sports industries and the
careers they could pursue in esports, or in other related industries such as sciences, technology,
digital, business, sport and the creatives.
Assessed via 2 tasks:
Task 1 : Research portfolio into both the esports and traditional sports industries in the UK and around the world.
Task 2 : Research and evaluate the different esports teams, tournaments and genres and how these appeal to different demographics of esports players
Unit 2 - Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis
Learners will develop the understanding and skills to analyse esports performances and recommend
improvements.
Assessed via 2 tasks:
Task 1 : Presentation into the In-Game skills and strategies needed for success in different games
Task 2 : Presentation that compares two high performing esports teams
Unit 3 - Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the
Esports Industry
Learners will study successful esports enterprise. They will research, plan and pitch their esports start-up enterprise and gain feedback on their planning activity.
Assessed via 2 tasks:
Task 1 : Electronic report to explore a range of enterprises that exist in the esports industry and then focus your research on one successful enterprise
Task 2 : Generate some credible esports enterprise ideas and refine these into one idea that you would like to take forward by undertaking primary and secondary research. Ensure you use a wide range of sources.
Unit 4 - Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players
Learners explore the importance of health, wellbeing and fitness in the esports industry. This will
include investigating physical and mental health and suggesting ways to improve.
Assessed via 2 tasks:
Task 1 : Electronic report evaluating the reasons for providing different physical activities in your local area and recommending effective ways of engaging with more esports players
Task 2 :Electronic report evaluating the importance of balancing physical fitness and social and psychological wellbeing to improve the esports player’s performance
Unit 5 - Esports Events
In this unit, learners will work as part of a small group to plan, coordinate and manage an esports
event and evaluate the skills gained.
Assessed via 2 tasks:
Task 1 : Electronic report - comprehensive research evidence into the role and skills of an esports event organiser
Task 2 : You need to prepare an individual realistic and detailed esports event plan.
Learners will investigate the role of branding in the esports industry. They will plan and create their
own branding and promotional content for the sale of branded products for their own esports team.
Assessed via 2 tasks:
Task 1 : You should create a digital brand research portfolio for a chosen Esports team
Task 2 :Brand activation plan for the Schools team

Progression 
Students can expect to explore topics such as media representation, target audiences, getting a job in their chosen field and the structure of the industry. You will develop a range of personal qualities and attributes essential for success in higher education and employment.
