Enrichment

As a Sixth Form student, you are expected to take advantage of the opportunities presented to you. Enriching your experience is important for your development as an individual. You must take the time to enhance your C.V. in order to improve your chances of securing employment or a university place. In addition, you are showing commitment to your school and giving back to the community that supports you. By the end of Year 12, all students are expected to demonstrate that they have completed a minimum of 90 hours of enrichment activities. These should include at least 30 hours in each of the following categories:

Work Related Learning

This should ideally be linked to your future aspirations. It could include work experience, activities such as EES (the Engineering Education Scheme) or iDEA (a nationally recognised business competition). It could also partly include any paid employment where you can demonstrate a link to your future career goals, for example in gaining ‘soft skills’ such as working with others and developing your ability to communicate. Post 16 students also have the opportunity to attend Works Experience during the first week of Year 13.

Community Participation

You should complete at least two separate activities where you are giving your time to help and support others. This could be within school or the wider community. Examples include the National Citizenship Service (NCS) programme, Lourdes visit, charity work, mentoring younger students, supporting lessons, or lunchtime activities, assisting with Open Day and Parents evenings etc.
