Course Requirements
A minimum of Grade 4 in English Language or Maths
Health and Social Care provides excellent preparation for both further study and employment. This two year course leads to a vocational qualification which will prepare you for further study and is an excellent grounding for a wide range of careers in health and social care. You will gain an understanding of how to work safely in a variety of roles, alongside understanding how to support those with additional needs and those suffering with physiological disorders. Unit 1 provides you with knowledge of key theories and concepts surrounding human growth and development, and the way in which many factors can impact on development both positively and negatively. The Foundation Diploma course consists of 2 external exams, and 4 units of coursework.

Unit 2 – Working in Health and Social Care External Exam (1hr 30 min) Can be retaken twice Unit 7 – Principles of Safe Practice Unit 12 – Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs
On completion of this qualification you will be able to apply directly to Universities of your choice to enrol on courses to become nurses, paramedics, midwives, occupational therapists, social workers or a range of other career pathways associated with this subject area. If studied alongside other courses such as Child Development you may choose to complete further study as part of employment in early years or healthcare settings.
