Brief introduction to subject:
Studying Philosophy and Ethics enables you to acquire many skills such as problem solving, analytical skills and persuasive writing. You will learn how to make reasoned, informed opinions and argue these eloquently. Philosophy and Ethics is an academic course that allows you to look into the “big” questions in the world and allows you to discuss and put forward your own opinions through vigorous debating. Academic writing will be significantly developed through the learning of source work, evidence based research and essay writing which will properly prepare you for further education.
Course Requirements
A minimum of Grade 5 in English Language and Maths, you will also need at least Grade 7 in the subject you wish to study. Please check the exact course requirements with individual subjects as they may vary.
Assessment
The course consists of 3 examinations, all of which are essay based.
- Philosophy of Religion, 2 hours, 120 marks 33.3% of your overall mark.
- Religion and Ethics, 2 hours, 120 marks, 33.3% of your overall mark.
- Developments in Christian Thought, 2 hours, 120 marks, 33.3% of your final mark.
